Winona Park

Winona Park by Formwerks Boutique PropertiesFor close to three decades, Formwerks Architectural Inc. has steadily developed a reputation as Vancouver’s most prominent westside luxury home architectural firm. Overits 27-year history, the firm, through its founder Jim Bussey, has designed some of the most recognizable homes in Vancouver. It was through a desire to ensure a homes’ architectural integrity from conception to completion that led Bussey to launch a separate development arm — Formwerks Boutique Properties — to develop multi-family townhomes with the same tradition of timeless design and appeal for which the architectural firm has become known.“After many years of providing design to clients, I felt it really was time to take on the development aspect,” says Bussey. “To me, it made sense as a designer to be involved in every step of a project, in order to fully control the quality and design integrity.”The new firm’s first endeavour is Winona Park: Chateau Parkside Residents, an exclusive collection of 19 homes at 332 West 62nd Avenue, 1.5 blocks east of Cambie Street, situated across from a five-acre tree-lined park named Winona Park.Featuring architecture reminiscent of chateaux in France, a country which Bussey frequently visits and which he says is the source of inspiration for many of his designs, the project is being built in the burgeoning community of Marpole, within close proximity to the Cambie Corridor and Marine Drive, as well as the upcoming SkyTrain station at West 57th Avenue. It is also easily accessible to Richmond and the airport. The use of space in European homes is also inspiring to Bussey. “In Europe, the reaction to housing and community spaces is more experientially-driven,” Bussey observes. “Home spaces are smaller than in North America, so there is much more mindfulness when it comes to their design. It is not as important to include all the bells and whistles as it is to designspecifically for how the space will be used.”A Formwerks-designed home has always been highly coveted and synonymous with irresistible luxury and the homes in Winona Park are no different. They come in configurations oftwo-bedroom garden duplexes and three-level, three-bedroom townhomes that include media rooms. They range in size from 1,100 to 1,850 square feet. Exteriors feature high-endFrench-château exterior architecture, and interiors are upscale including Carrara marble, Italian appliances, marble-tiled entries, air conditioning and heat recovery ventilation, makeup vanities, bright offices, and luxurious spa-themed bathrooms.“This is the first multi-family project to be approved since the City of Vancouver approved the Marpole Community Plan,” explains Bussey. “The proximity to the bustling activity of Marine and Cambie makes it an ideal location, and yet the parkside setting of Winona Park means that it is one of the few townhouse projects in the area that provides a serene retreat.”For more information on Formwerks Boutique Properties and its projects, visit: www.formwerksboutique.ca
